Welcome in our Dutch Lions Youth Exchange Program 2010

In 2010 we hope to welcome about 100 campers in our program. You will be guest with Host-families and you will be camper in one of our four Green Yard Camps

For the campers "from Over the Ocean" the date of arrival will be June 26, for the European campers July 10th. The departure will be July 31 for all participants
(It is NOT allowed to leave the camp earlier than July 31).

The first period(s) you will be guest with one of our Dutch Lions Host-families.
The Camps start on July 20st. Your Host-family will pick you up at Amsterdam Schiphol airport and bring you to the camp after the Homestay-period. The Camp Staffs are responsible that all campers will arrive at the airport (or at the

windmill

train or busstation) in time for your departure.

The Host-families are living in different areas in The Netherlands and one of the purposes of our program is you to get acquainted with the Dutch familylife. Your Host-families will also show you interesting places in our country. However the Hostfamilies are also very interested to learn about your country and your living there.

There will be four camps this year. The participants will stay in Youth Hostels and or tents will also make a lot of interesting trips together with members of the Junior and Senior Staff. Like in all international camps our goal is to learn about the cultures of all other campers and to get acquainted with the International Lions Organisation.

The Country presentation is a very important part of the Camp-program. During the Camp-period every camper has to inform the other campers and the Staffmembers about their own country and culture by a presentation. Slides, CD-Rom or Video can be used. Take enough time before the program starts for a good preparation.

The candidate campers can give their preference camp BUT the final decision which camp you will join is made by the Dutch Youth exchange committee.

On te map you can find the locations of the Host-areas and the camps. Information of all four camps will be on this website. During May and the first weeks of June the sites will be build up.ordinary_people

All participants will be informed about their stay in the Netherlands by mail, but specific Camp-information can be found on this site: the Camp-programs, the lists of participants, information about Junior and Senior Staffs a.s.o.

We hope you all will have a great time in the Netherlands.

Lou Hessing
Chairman Lions Youth Exchange Committee MD 110 .
